Montessori-inspired learning materials

Learn with their hands, grow at their own pace.

Smyle France brings together materials designed for children's independence: objects to handle, sensory play and child-height furniture, for the home and for early-years settings.

Our approach

Fewer toys that do everything, more objects that let children do.

Montessori materials invite children to try, make mistakes and try again on their own. Here's what guides our selection.

Independence first

Objects children can grasp, put away and use without help, so they gain confidence in what they do.

One sense at a time

Touch, weight, sound, colour: each material isolates one quality so the child can notice it and compare.

Real materials

Wood, metal, fabric: pleasant to handle, chosen to last and to grow with the child.

Choose by age

What to offer, and when?

A rough guide: every child moves at their own pace. Watch what draws them in, then offer.

Exploring with the whole body

Babies discover the world through their mouth, hands and eyes. Materials stay simple, high-contrast and safe.

Visual mobilesHigh-contrast shapes to watch from the play mat.
Rattles and ringsTo grasp, pass from hand to hand, and mouth.
Object permanence boxThe ball disappears… and comes back. A first game of cause and effect.
Pull-up barA steady support to pull up and stand.

Learning tower

At counter height.

The learning tower lets children join the adult in the kitchen or bathroom: they watch, pour, wash, and really take part.

  • Platform adjusts to the child's height
  • Side rails to hold on with confidence
  • Steps to climb up and down on their own

Busy board

Everyday movements, on a board.

The busy board brings latches, locks, wheels and switches together on one board. Children repeat, watch what happens, and try again until they master the movement.

  • Hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills
  • Focus on one precise action
  • The joy of working out "how it works"

Common questions

Montessori materials, explained.

Why choose Montessori materials?

Because they help children grow independently. Multisensory, they spark curiosity and make learning appealing through hands-on activities with real objects.

Do you need a lot of materials?

No. A few well-chosen objects on a low shelf, rotated now and then, beat a full toy box. What matters is that children can choose and tidy away on their own.

Is it suitable for childcare settings too?

Yes, most categories work just as well at home as for childminders, nurseries or early-years spaces. Tell us about your setting and we'll guide you.

How do I know if a material suits my child?

Watch what keeps them busy right now: pouring, stacking, opening, sorting… The right material builds on an interest they already have. Our age guide gives ideas, not strict rules.
