Unveiling a Unusual Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Turdy Character in a Mission to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and enthusiasts have discovered numerous engaging creations from small studios. Yet, one stands out for its offbeat concept. Titled Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game features a character that is truly a dung striving to make its way to a restroom. As a fun fact, "Unko" means "poop."

How you interact is simple: just use a jump control. Across one hundred fifty stages, battle mini-bosses and visit a store to acquire outfits for your poop character.

Time your actions with caution, as a mistake requires starting over. Jump using bubbles to propel the poop higher, navigate crumbling surfaces, and interact with buttons to unlock secret routes. Gather UN-KOINS for buying challenging levels where things intensifies.

In terms of design, the experience shows off eye-catching level designs and catchy background music. The retro visual style of morphing abstract forms evokes memories of fans of old favorites like Earthbound.

While it's tough to think of other games where you control a coiled turd, video games often featured scatological themes. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can create throwables from protagonist excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as plant food. And of course, fecal references shows up heavily in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its humorous concept, Unko Technica has already garnered impressive accolades, such as taking top honors at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. A playable preview is accessible now on Steam, with the complete version set to arrive on PC in the fall.
